FREE WILL by Martin
Higgins I
do what I choose, not what I must. Determined
by knowledge, whimsy and trust. I
reject the New Order, despise the poseur, Ignore
the Crone's Warning (she's phony, I'm sure!)
As
for Social Convention, that insecure crutch, One
kick and it stumbles, undone, out-of-touch. From
the pulpit, the dictum, Liber Legis, and babble, Holds
sway over eighty percent of the rabble.
And the jackbooted Trooper, With
his gun, badge and law, Paints a portrait of power, In
blood on the floor. So
how do I manage to chalk in my actions, Making
conscious omissions, edits, redactions? I
create, in my image, a universe anew, From
my world, my beliefs, and each one of you.
If
there's anguish and suffering, it resides in our hearts. While
love and affection address other parts. When
there's trust and redemption, we approach the divine, If
revenge mars our singing, it's the beer, booze, or wine.
So each time I choose, And
my will speaks out free, Remember it's you, And
just a small part of me. Copyright
