Totalbull.com
From 1997 through 1998 John
C. Dvorak and I produced a website known as TotalBull.com.
It showcased my satirical and parody
pieces, edited and published by John.
We had a huge underground following and
were only a few weeks from ordering satin jackets with an embroidered TotalBull.com
on the back and our nicknames in script on the front.
But, a tragic virtual Christmas Tree
fire on the site reduced most of the HTML to SGML which is actually
a more powerful predecessor of HTML, but lacked the requisite language to
hard code punchlines and wisecracks.
The domain name was eventually lost, the
office cats were released in Berkeley on a dark and stormy night and the
surviving pages packed in alternating layers of waxed paper and baby
powder.
Recently, these nearly-forgotten gems
were nearly-remembered by the manager of the Loc `N Go Storage Center
while spraying for field mice. "Pick `em up or they go in the
dumpster." he said in an otherwise cheerful phone message.
The boxes of webpages have been
reconstituted and reside here. The office cats have been found
(along with their 50+ kittens, and TotalBull.com
is being reincarnated as SacredBurgers.com (Bite-Sized Pieces Of American
Bull!)
